Cornice.................

This is also a picture below of cornices I made for heather.  It is a very large wall and the cornices still needed something so Heather and her Husband added the artwork above.

Heather's valance..

This valance I made for Heather and you can see the same valance below without the new colored wall.  Heather is not afraid of color and it just popped the valance.

Box pleats............

Box Pleat valances built on a 1 x 4.  Covered buttons were added for style.  Box Pleats are simple and good to use when there are many of the same size windows.  This room has 7 windows.

Triple pleats....................

Triple pleats with covered buttons to match the drapes.  This turned out amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Bay window was quite large so I built the valance on a 1 x 6 board instead of using rods, rings, and brackets.  The drapes have a small puddle with tiebacks to match valances.

Top of Drapes...........

This is the top of the drapes we added length to.  I love using small rods if they are going to be stationary.  It gives the drapes a unique look.

Needed more length.

My daughter wanted these drapes so I made them for her for Christmas one year.  She moved and did not want to leave them behind.  She wanted them for her dining room in her new house but way to short.  To save the drapes and budget we bought the same material but this time used the wrong side for the bottom and added trim.  She loves them!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sheers.............

This is two sets of sheers.  The customer still loved the pink sheers but needed a new look so we added sheers on top and a rosette.

Hardware.............

The hardware is as important as the window treatment.  Yes it can be expensive but putting a beautiful window treatment on cheap rods just does not look good.  Do one window at a time as budget allows.

Love Love Love This One !!!!!!!!

Soft swag with beads on bottom.  The customer was happy with this window treatment.

Corner Windows..........

Many ways to decorate corner windows with window treatments.  this customer wanted this look.  The picture is a little dark but looks good.  Valances are on 2" rods and rings.

Valance.............

This valance turned out great.  Hard to see but there is covered buttons on the pleat.

Pillows!!!!!!!!!!!!

This customer has a beautiful quilt and we just added pillows from her valance fabric.  She was pleased.

Cornice..........

This cornice has the same fabric as the previous picture but different style.  Hard to see but there is cording on top and bottom of the cornice.

Finally New Pictures!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love this pattern...It is casual and elegant.  I lined it with a contrasting lining.  I mounted this valance on a 2" rod with matching rings.

Drape with a heading and puddle..........

These are stationary drapes with a large heading on top.  What is a heading?  The portion above the top of the rod pocket.  This can be any size you want.  I like the larger size it just makes a statement.  This drape also has a small puddle.  A drape if you are going to open and close should be 1/2" off the ground but if it is stationary it can sit on the ground.  This is a very small puddle and once again it's about what the customer likes.

Fleece + no sew = warm throw.......

Need a warm throw to add to your home decor?  Put two pieces of fleece together (wrong sides together)and cut 4" in all around the edges.  The strips I use are 1" wide but could be less or more.  Tie the two strips together in a double knot all the way around.  And there you have it a warm throw.  This is a lodge look but this could be made out of any print of fleece and would be a great baby shower gift.

Simple and Elegant.............

A lined drapery with a wood cornice covers the kitchen slider and a simple soft box pleat valance add charm to the kitchen window.  There is red in this customer's kitchen so I added a red trim on the bottom of the valance.  The valance is built on a 1x4 so no hardware needed on this window.  The slider drape is on a steel rod with grommets and slides easily.

Moose,bear and pinecones galore..........

This is a amazing fabric from Robert Allen.  This home's theme is a lodge decor.  Along the bottom of the moose are pinecones and bears.  This is a basic cornice which I made out of plywood and batting but is unique in fabric and trim for this home.  Once again a window treatment should just warm up the window but not take away the view.

This is a BIG cornice!!!!!!!

This is truly the longest cornice I have made.  It is almost 14 feet in length.  It is hard to see in the picture but there are beads along the bottom edge and cording on top.  The cornice is made out of plywood with batting then fabric.  The side drapes are stationary and are a beautiful embroidery fabric.

Hanging panels.............

The picture of the grommet panel  below is a perfect example of  hanging a stationary window treatment.  I took advantage of the wall space above the window and hung the panel about 2" away from the ceiling.  I then used the space to the right of the window and put the bulk of the fabric in the space and just covered the sides of the trim.  It again gives the appearance of a larger window and I did not take the view away from the window.

Hanging your window treatment?

Now that you have purchased or made your window treatments how should you hang them.  The window in the room is usually there for the view or light and I try not to cover up the window.  I  generally keep the drapes off the glass.  If there is wall space above the window and doing a outside mount use that space for the bulk of the treatment if doing a valance.I generally place the rod close to the ceiling and let the length cover the window trim.  Doing this gives the window the apperance of being larger than what it is and you have not blocked the view or the lighting.I then put the brackets 4"-6" away from the window on both sides.  I always take in consideration how everything looks before we install and  what the customer thinks.

Grommet Panels

Why choose a grommet panel?  Grommet panels are very nice for a stationary window treatments
due to the folds always look so nice and alot of fabric can fold into a small space.  For a traversing panel grommets due best on a steel rod and not a wood rod.  I have been adding beads on the backside to help them traverse evenly.
